Meticulous restoration and refurbishing services

We provide a complete range of repair and refurbishment services dedicated exclusively to Bolatti hats. Each restoration is carried out with the same care, precision, and materials used in the hat’s original making, ensuring the integrity of its form and finish are fully preserved.

At present, our service work is limited to hats crafted in our studio. This allows us to guarantee that every element meets our own exacting standards, handled with the same tools and methods that shaped it first.

Below you will find a reference list of our most common services and their respective rates. Prices are quoted per individual operation; however, when several services are combined (for instance, re-blocking and flanging), a consolidated quotation is provided. The list is not exhaustive — should your hat require a specific intervention not listed here, we invite you to contact us so we may assess and advise on the most suitable course of restoration.

List of Services

  • Each hat is carefully steamed and brushed to restore the felt nap’s alignment, reviving its natural lustre, removing dust, and renewing its elegant finish.

    Limited to one service per hat annually.

  • Your hat’s ribbon band will be replaced with the original Vialaton & Martin cotton–rayon French ribbon, subject to availability. Alternatively, you may select a different ribbon style or colour from our current offerings.

    For special materials such as silk, please contact us for a personalized quotation.

  • The hat band trimming will be carefully removed, and the sweatband replaced with one of our fine leather bands, individually cut and contoured to the precise dimensions of your hat. Once fitted, the original hat band will be meticulously reinstated, and the brim faithfully re-flanged for the hat to recover its original character and silhouette.

  • A new pure silk duchesse liner in 40-momme weight, or an open-weave linen liner, will be custom-cut, fitted, and sewn into your hat to replace the original lining.

  • A vintage French ribbon from our Vialaton & Martin collection will be used to bind your hat’s brim or to replace a damaged or existing binding. Brim flanging is included.

  • Your hat’s brim will be carefully re-flanged, restoring its original shape and snap. The original flange from your hat will be used in this process; alternatively, should you wish to adjust the brim’s shape — for instance, to achieve a more pronounced coup — this can be accommodated.

    Please note that this service applies only to brims that have been previously flanged. For curled or unflanged brims requiring attention, we invite you to contact us for a personalized quotation.

  • The brim of your hat will be carefully flattened, trimmed to the new dimensions, and re-flanged using a flange appropriate for its updated size. The price includes the re-flanging service.

    If your brim features a binding, please contact us for a personalized quotation, as the binding must be removed and adapted to the new dimensions.

  • The hat’s oval shape may be altered from long to regular, or vice versa. If your hat was originally conformed in our studio, we can refresh its shape or adjust it to a different oval configuration.

    Please note that while minor adjustments in size can be performed under this service, it does not cover a full re-sizing of the hat.

  • Your hat’s trimmings — including the hat band, sweatband, and liner — will be carefully removed, and the hat re-blocked using its original block. Once re-blocked, the trimmings will be meticulously re-attached, and the brim re-flanged to restore its original form.

    Should your hat require a deep brushing, this will be performed as part of the service.

  • Your hat’s crown will be carefully steamed, brushed, and re-shaped to its original form. This entirely manual process is intended for minor touch-ups or to correct small deformations in the crown.

  • Should your hat require a complete refurbishment, please contact us for a personalized quotation, tailored to your hat’s specific needs. This will include all services and materials necessary to restore your hat to its original pristine condition.
