Our Story

About the Company

Bolatti Hat Company was born from an idea sparked by a family photograph nearly a century old — a portrait of the hatter’s maternal grandfather, Genaro César Peralta, sharply dressed and wearing a fine fedora on a chilly day in Rosario, Argentina. That image led to a simple yet compelling question: What if contemporary soft felt dress hats could once again be made for sartorially inclined individuals, crafted with the same care and the finest materials as they were a hundred years ago?

With the current resurgence of hatmaking as a once-lost craft, there is today a wealth of choice for hats of every kind and shape. Many talented hatters have worked to recapture the softness, balance, and feel of 1930s–40s men’s dress hats, often using vintage tools and methods. While this is a commendable pursuit, we felt there remained a gap: a lack of finely crafted dress hats designed for the modern sartorial wardrobe, where classic elegance meets contemporary sensibility.

To fill that void, Dante Bolatti founded Bolatti Hat Co. in 2023, with the goal of creating a refined and modern interpretation of the traditional dress hat by combining timeless design, exceptional materials, and meticulous craftsmanship. After three years dedicated to sourcing specialized tools and materials and refining traditional techniques for a contemporary era, Bolatti Hat Co. launched its online boutique store in 2026.

At Bolatti Hat Co., we strive to craft dress hats of uncompromising quality, resulting in pieces that simply cannot be replicated through industrial or serialized production. We never cut corners with materials, time, or effort. The result is a one-of-a-kind hat that will accompany you for decades, complementing your individual style, whether classic, avant-garde, or modern.

We take pride in using only the finest materials available and in offering a truly personalized service during both fitting and style selection. About the Hatter

Greetings! My name is Dante Bolatti. I’m a Canadian-Argentine hatmaker, and the driving force behind Bolatti Hat Co.

My background is a little different from most hatters: I spent nearly two decades working in engineering and research before finding my way to this craft.

So why hatmaking? Like many who turn to a creative pursuit later in life, I decided to take a detour from my former profession to a craft that provide agency, a creative purpose, and a physical output. Call it alienation (or mid-life crisis), the virtualization and routine of office work left an ennui that I could not shake off doing part time hobbies, so after a major change in my personal life I decided that this was the right time to explore that creative path not taken before.

As many other hatters, I bumped into hat making when I was not able to find an off-the-rack quality fur felt that fitted me properly. This took me on a research adventure that ended up with the built of my first hat, and a creative outlet that I definitely did not see coming. I found that I could take a blank hat body, and turn it into something else at my will (agency), that there were endless combinations of colours, shapes, materials and techniques that result in a fine hat (the creative purpose), and the outcome was a material product that one can interact with in the physical world (the physical output aspect).

I feel that these principles are liberating, and thus pushed me to launch this small creative endeavour. I hope that you enjoy your hat as much as I enjoyed crafting it.

And, if you’re curious about my professional background, you’re welcome to visit my LinkedIn profile. Should you also wish to chat about things beyond hats — from drumming and classic film noir to space exploration, screenwriting, or vinyl record collecting — feel free to reach out. I’ll be delighted to exchange a few words while enjoying an arctic-cold dry Martini (the genuine kind… with gin), hat on and spirits high.
